Sheriff Tim Decker
Sheriff Decker brings more than three decades of law enforcement experience to the role. Prior to his appointment, he served as Chief Deputy of the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office for 15 years, helping lead daily operations and supporting deputies in protecting the communities of Dakota County. He began his law enforcement career in 1992 as a part-time officer in Ponca and later served with the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.
Law enforcement is a proud family tradition for Sheriff Decker. His brother, Tom Decker, currently serves as Sheriff of neighboring Dixon County, and several other members of the Decker family have dedicated their careers to public service in law enforcement.
As Sheriff, Decker remains committed to serving Dakota County with integrity, professionalism, and a strong focus on community safety.
